Massage is one of the most popular treatments with my clients as they find it so relaxing but did you know how many health benefits a massage has?
Massage has been with us for thousands of years with ancient civilisations in China, Egypt, Japan and Greece practising massage at least as early as 2700 B.C.E . In Rome, Julius Caesar is said to have had daily massages to treat nerve pain. It was also an important part of Ayurvedic medicine in India and still is today. Swedish massage was introduced in the West by Per Hernill Ling and is the foundation of most modern massage today.
What are the Main Health Benefits of a Massage?
Touch is often a neglected sense, especially during this current epidemic but most people love the tingling, soothing feeling of having oils deeply massaged into their muscles and skin, enabling them to completely relax. Add some calming music, and you can forget all your problems for a while.
Other benefits include: relief from stress and anxiety promoting deep relaxation.
Softer and healthier skin. A deep massage using base oils such as Almond, Grapeseed, Coconut or Avocado allow your skin to be instantly softened.
Improved Muscle tone. Regular massage can help tone the muscles and encourage their flexibility. It can also help to loosen tight muscles and lessen any spasms.
Improved blood circulation and heart health. Massage reduces the heart rate, lowers blood pressure and increases blood circulation. (However please seek the advice of your Doctor or ask me if you have any heart or circulation conditions).
Can Massage Help with Pain?
By improving circulation to injured and affected muscles, nutrients and oxygen can more easily be transported to damaged tissues, therefore helping to reduce pain.
Why is now a good time to have a massage?
The Covid situation has brought about many difficult and stressful situations for many people so there has never been a better time to come for a massage to help you to feel more relaxed, stronger and healthier.
“What a wonderful relaxing massage. I feel totally chilled out and very calm.” Margaret
Hygiene. I adhere to strict hygiene rules in my salon with towels and other items being carefully sterilised. I ask all my clients to arrive with a mask.
